Moni Islet

A natural refuge opposite Aegina

Moni Islet lies to the south-west of Aegina, in the northern part of the Saronic Gulf, and is uninhabited by people. Its pine-covered landscape provides refuge for various animals, including deer, peacocks, squirrels and wild goats.
It belongs to the Holy Monastery of Chrysoleontissa, which also gave the islet its name, “Moni”. On the western side, a sandy organised beach awaits you, while on the eastern side you will find rocky spots well suited to those who prefer peace and quiet, provided that you bring everything you may need. On both sides, however, the waters are crystal clear.
Apart from swimming, you can observe the animals living on the islet in their natural environment, always keeping the necessary distance and respecting wildlife protection rules.
You may also go hiking or climb the islet’s rocky slopes, provided that you have the proper equipment and observe all safety rules. If you reach the top of Moni, you will see the old military observation post that operated during the Second World War and admire the view towards Aegina, the Methana peninsula and Agistri.
Discover Moni Islet, an ideal destination for swimming or a day trip.
