Music Festivals

The islands of the Argosaronic fill with music

In summer, Aegina further strengthens its appeal as a visitor destination by hosting two music festivals that cover a wide range of musical genres.
The Aegina Music Festival has been held on the island every year since 2005 and has established itself as an important annual cultural institution. Its programme will transport you through classical as well as more contemporary musical worlds, with chamber music concerts and recitals that create an atmospheric sense of reverence, owing in part to the venues themselves. These include the courtyard of the Church of the Saviour, Avra beach and the small “I. Molfesi” Theatre in Pachiorachi.
The gap in the jazz festival scene was filled from 2025 onwards by the Aegina Jazz Festival, an initiative of the Jazz Solidarity Network, which began at the former Kapodistrian Orphanage as a new annual cultural institution.
The musical summer in the Argosaronic, of course, is not limited to these two festivals in Aegina, but extends to other islands as well. It is well worth making a short trip from Aegina to Poros for the Anastasios Leimonis International Piano Festival, which has been held since 2009. Young pianists taking part in the Summer Academy of the same name demonstrate to the public their talent and their love of the piano, having broadened their knowledge alongside distinguished teachers. The concerts are usually hosted in the Amphitheatre of the Syngros Building, while the celebratory recital is presented at the archaeological site of the Sanctuary of Poseidon.
As for the Saronic Chamber Music Festival, it has been held in Hydra, Poros, Galatas and Methana since 2011 and is an annual summer gathering of musicians from around the world performing major chamber music works.
