Art and nature in a singular open-air sculpture garden
The Skironio Centre of Kifisia is a contemporary sculpture park, set within a 9,500-sq.m. olive grove. It represents one of Attica's most significant outdoor spaces for contemporary art, encompassing a historic Kifisia farmhouse from the early 20th century and its outbuildings, seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape.
As you wander through the olive grove, you will encounter contemporary sculptures nestled amongst olive, linden, pomegranate, cypress and pine trees. Pioneering visual artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, both from Greece and abroad, have created works specifically for the park, forming a collection that evolves and is continuously enriched.
The establishment of the Skironio Centre in Kifisia is intrinsically linked to the 5th International Sculpture Biennale of 1985, featuring 63 sculptors from around the globe. In conjunction with this event, the Skironio opened its doors to the public for the first time, with exhibitions held concurrently at both the Skironio Centre in Kifisia and the Skironio Museum Polychronopoulos.Â
In addition to art exhibitions, the Skironio Centre in Kifisia hosts concerts, lectures, poetry readings, performances, and educational programmes for schools, alongside exhibitions designed for children.
