A picturesque harbour in northern Evia
The history of Limni comes alive through the neoclassical mansions of the 19th and early 20th centuries, which bear witness to the commercial and maritime prosperity of the area. Symmetrical houses with wooden balconies, large windows, and tiled roofs adorn the coastal road, while the iconic buildings of the Police Station and the Tax Office, works by the renowned architect Ernst Ziller, along with unique religious monuments, highlight the historical and spiritual heritage of the region.
Each year, in early August, Limni comes alive with the Elymnia festival, which includes musical evenings, book presentations, sports events, and an impressive seaside spectacle featuring boats and fireworks, re-enacting the burning of the Turkish fleet, honouring the 1821 War of Independence
The wider area offers opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities: trails that traverse forests, small coves for summer swims, nearby beaches, and mountain villages combine to create a multifaceted landscape of experiences.
