In the land of Odysseus

Ithaca, the mythical island of Penelope and Odysseus, has been a source of timeless inspiration since antiquity and is a symbol of nostalgia for one’s homeland. According to Homer’s epics, Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, wandered through exotic lands, resisted the charms of the enchantress Circe and the song of the Sirens, and faced the elements of nature and the wrath of the gods. Yet his thoughts never strayed from the dream of returning to his beloved kingdom, Ithaca.
On dreamlike Ithaca, the intense alternations of the landscape and the unsurpassed beauty of untamed nature compose a unique terrain. Traditional hamlets, deep blue waters splashing against white pebbled shores, steep rugged landscapes, hidden caves, sheltered lush bays, windswept capes, and archaeological treasures awaken memories of the past, enchanting visitors. 
Vathy, the island's capital and harbour, features beautiful houses with tiled roofs, imposing mansions, and picturesque narrow stone-paved streets (kantounia). There are so many villages on Ithaca. Some small and traditional, others are perched on the mountain with wonderful views, while others are seaside fishing villages where time slows down by the sea. 
Ithaca features nature’s entire palette, from the curves of the shores and mountains to the lace-like coves. Trails scented by lentisk trees, cedars, shrubs and cypress trees. Small pebbled beaches with clear waters in every shade of blue. Trees that almost brush against sea. Good food, festivals, panigyria (traditional fairs), and hospitable people make this the ultimate destination.
