The Ionian island accessible by road

Lefkada can be found in the Ionian Sea and is one of the few Greek islands connected to the mainland by a floating bridge. A large island, it is encircled by smaller isles, including the legendary Skorpios, which once belonged to Aristotle Onassis. It boasts lavish vegetation, striking coves with turquoise waters, and globally renowned beaches.
The town of Lefkada, the island’s capital and port, enchants visitors with its distinctive house colours, narrow alleyways, immaculate courtyards, and stately beauty seemingly untouched by time. Small squares, cobbled pedestrian streets, and ornate belfries create a picturesque and vibrant town. On the eastern side, the modern marina bestows a cosmopolitan atmosphere, while the lagoon and the channel surrounding it offer scenes of rare serenity. 
Beyond its natural beauty, Lefkada features a vibrant cultural life and rich traditions. The International Folklore Festival, the Speech and Art Festival, the re-enactment of a traditional Lefkadian wedding in Karya, and local wine festivals keep the customs and traditions of the island alive. Its gastronomy, with products such as the famous Lefkadian salami, ladopita (olive oil pie), and rosoli liqueur, enhances every visitor's experience.
Lefkada exquisitely balances nature, culture, and the sea. This island simultaneously exudes serenity and vibrancy, tradition and modernity, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
