The diminutive ecological marvel of the Dodecanese

Tilos is one of the smallest islands in the Dodecanese. Towering mountains, fertile coastal plains, rugged shores and expansive sandy beaches create an island that serves as a natural habitat for rare bird species, as well as over four hundred species of flowers and herbs. It is the first energy-efficient green island in the Mediterranean, a vibrant ‘green treasure’ and a vast ecological park. 
Tilos was once home to the last dwarf elephants of Europe, which stood just 1.5 metres tall. The island was renowned in antiquity for its medicinal herbs and flourished greatly during classical times, when the celebrated poet Erinna lived here. Today, it remains one of the most authentic destinations in the Dodecanese, replete with picturesque villages, medieval castles, enchanting beaches, and a languid pace of life. 
The capital, Megalo Chorio, stands out for its unpretentious island architecture, while Livadia is the port and the most vibrant part of the island. At its large pebble beach, the most popular on Tilos, the crystal-clear waters invite you to take a dip, and if you are lucky, you might even swim alongside a renowned bird: the shag that frequents these waters.
Visit Tilos to enjoy an authentic island that remains unchanged by time. Local development is exceptionally mild, the pace is languid, and you will leave filled with a sense of the Greece of yesteryear.
