The island of Hera and Pythagoras

Samos lies in the Eastern Aegean, near the coast of Asia Minor, and is the mythical birthplace of the goddess Hera. An island of intoxicating beauty, with captivating natural contrasts and dozens of exquisite beaches, it once hosted Herodotus, Aesop, and other great pioneers of science and art from the ancient world.
It is the birthplace of the philosopher Epicurus, the great astronomer Aristarchus, as well as the greatest mathematician of all time, Pythagoras. The island experienced days of glory and served as a prominent intellectual centre of the Mediterranean world. Today, the archaeological sites of the Pythagoreion and the Heraion, testaments to its illustrious past, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Samos is a land of lush vegetation and verdant trails, boasting imposing mountains, caves, gorges and ravines, a pristine natural environment that captivates visitors. 
Samos reveals many facets: it is more vibrant if you stay in Vathy, Kokkari or Pythagorio. It is more secluded if you prefer Marathokambos, Kerveli or Mykali. It is lively and enjoys revelry, yet also serene, ideal for tranquillity, contemplation and relaxation. Samos is truly unique.
