The Laconic city blessed with stunning natural beauty

Sparta is a town inextricably linked to ancient Greek history. It was the eternal rival of Athens and the home of valiant warriors, Leonidas and the 300 who fell heroically in the legendary Battle of Thermopylae. At the same time, it was the mythical kingdom of King Menelaus and Helen, the beauty who was the cause of the Trojan War.
The ancient city was destroyed in 396 AD by the Visigoths, while present-day Sparta was founded in 1834, on and around its few ruins. It is a town with tree-lined streets, spacious squares, elegant neoclassical buildings and impeccable urban planning.
A verdant plain spreads around the town, full of olive, orange, lemon and mulberry trees. To the south-west, the imposing Mount Taygetus rises with its steep peaks and wild beauty, while to the east of the town extends the Parnon mountain range, covered with fir trees and dense vegetation.
Sparta is a welcoming and vibrant town, with immense historical significance and a unique natural environment. It may not have an impressive archaeological site that showcases its ancient glory, but walking down its streets and squares, with the place names and the names of kings and heroes, you will feel history subtly whispering to you at every turn.
