Exploring Goura

A peaceful village in mountainous Corinthia

Built at an altitude of approximately 900 m, in the heart of mountainous Corinthia, Goura is a place that wins you over with its tranquility and purity. It serves as a natural gateway to Lake Stymphalia, the mountain villages, and the forests of Mt. Ziria. Here, the landscape is open and bright, featuring charming squares, low-set houses, and a pace of life that follows the seasons.
A tour of Goura is simple and pleasant. It begins at the central square, the meeting point for locals and visitors alike, dominated by the imposing Church of the Taxiarches (Archangels), built in 1877. The stroll continues through quiet streets that reveal the everyday life of mountainous Corinthia, alongside significant historic houses such as those of Nikolaos Oikonomou-Goura, Sarlis, and Moutis.
Surrounding the village are farmlands, meadows, and forested areas, while a short distance away, trails lead to picturesque chapels, gorges, and mountain passes.
