Since then up to the present day, equestrian sport in Greece has been steadily developing and is considered one of the rising sports, enjoying strong popularity among the public and especially among young people. Every year, new clubs are founded, new members are registered, and new riders appear on the competitive scene. It is indicative that today there are more than around 50 riding clubs (and riding schools), of which 46 are recognised by the Hellenic Equestrian Federation. The sport’s competitive strength amounts to approximately 2,450 athletes and around 1,000 sport horses.
In addition to competitive riding, one can also take part in equestrian programs for both beginners and more experienced riders, offered in specially designed facilities and farms (equestrian centres) located throughout Greece. There, specially trained staff and well-trained horses will introduce you to the basic skills of riding, while observing all safety rules. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy riding excursions lasting several hours along natural trails and through beautiful mountainous landscapes.
