Nestled between Mount Parnassus and Mount Giona, at the foot of Mount Elatos (eastern Parnassus), Amfissa resides in the heart of Central Greece. Unexplored and tranquil, it remains far from the lights that shine on nearby Delphi and Arachova. The city is surrounded by the impressive natural landscape of Roumeli and its hallmark is the renowned Olive Grove that stretches at its foot. This is the largest continuous olive grove in Greece, particularly striking in its area and appearance. Over a million olive trees, many of them centuries old, extend down to the Gulf of Corinth, creating a unique setting that is protected by the Natura 2000 network. Above the city, the castle of Salona dominates the landscape, an ever-vigilant observer, boasting an important history that stretches from antiquity to the Greek War of Independence, during which the region played a crucial role. Below it lies the district of Harmaina, the most picturesque neighbourhood in the city. Cobblestone alleyways, old tanneries, and renovated workshops recount the history of leatherworking, preserving the authentic character of Amfissa.
