The quiet charm of the western Cyclades

On the western side of the Cyclades, bathed in the blinding light of the Aegean, rises Folegandros, small, unassuming, and enchanting. Traditional Cycladic architecture, wild cliffs, and magnificent beaches compose one of the most beautiful Cycladic islands.
The Chora of Folegandros, built approximately 200 meters above the sea, is among the most picturesque in the Cyclades. It spreads within and around the medieval castle that proudly dominates the edge of the cliff, offering a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. The white of the houses is highlighted by colourful shutters and courtyards full of bougainvillea. Paved alleys wander languidly through the narrow streets and lead to squares with large plane trees and traditional cafés.
Above the Chora, a path ascends in a zigzag pattern to the Church of Panagia, which stands out bold and defiant, a landmark of the island. The view from above is enchanting, especially at sunset, when the sun sinks into the endless blue and the houses of Chora are painted in golden-red hues.
Folegandros offers beaches of rare beauty: Katergos, Agia Marina, Livadas, Galanos and Karavostasi stand out for their crystal-clear waters and natural isolation. For hiking enthusiasts, dozens of trails traverse the island and connect villages, chapels and coasts, passing through stone fences, dry-stone walls and wildflowers.
Folegandros is a peaceful place that invites visitors to experience it slowly, to wander without a destination, to listen to the wind and the sea, to share smiles with its people, and to vow to return.
