Travel to the heart of Cyclades

Naxos, the island of Dionysus, is the largest and most fertile island of the Cyclades. A crossroads of the Aegean, it carries a rich history and monuments from various eras that highlight its unique past. Long sandy beaches with cool, crystal-clear waters and a diverse landscape that is uniquely balanced between the mountain and the sea, make up one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades.
Large and starkly white, Hora of Naxos spreads out before you as soon as you set foot on the island. Among the newer buildings rises the Venetian castle that crowns it. Houses with Venetian coats of arms, narrow streets, arches, and fortifications create a unique mix of Cycladic simplicity and medieval magnificence, in an enchanting tower town.
Zas, the highest mountain of the Cyclades, stands tall at the centre of the island, surrounded by beautiful traditional villages: Apeiranthos with its marble-paved alleys, warm-coloured Halki, Filoti, Kinidaros and so many others, picturesque places that keep their traditions, flavours, and ways of life alive. The landscape, at times barren, at others fertile, is marked by stone towers that bear witness to the Venetian presence on the island, as well as by scattered Byzantine churches with wonderful frescoes.
Naxos is a generous place. Its fertile plains offer unique products: potatoes, citrons, distinctive cheeses, and local wines that complete its gastronomic identity. Then comes the sea, with endless sandy beaches, golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and quiet bays, from Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna to Plaka and even further away, where the landscape becomes wild and pristine.
Naxos has it all and offers experiences for every traveller: hiking on old stone-paved roads, water sports, tours of traditional hamlets, wonderful flavours, and authentic hospitality. It is an island bursting with light and life, and is the quintessentially Cycladic destination.
