A charming and quiet Cycladic island

On Sikinos, time seems to have stood still, and the inhabitants have preserved the traditional character of the island intact. In antiquity it was called Oenoe, meaning “wine-bearing”, as it was famous for the large production and exceptional quality of its wine. Today, it keeps a lower profile than other, busier islands of the Cyclades and is an ideal choice for peaceful holidays.
On Sikinos, the landscape is authentically Cycladic. Here the scenery is dominated by terraces with dry crops, dry-stone walls, numerous chapels, and beaches with turquoise waters. The setting is completed by the remains of ancient settlements, Byzantine monuments, inaccessible caves, and hiking trails. The island’s unique flora and fauna are protected by the Natura 2000 network.
The fairytale-like Chora rises on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the endless blue. Narrow whitewashed alleys, doll-like houses, and picturesque squares compose one of the most unpretentious corners of the Cyclades. During the day, in the alleys of the Chora, all you can hear is the wind whispering over the vine leaves. In the evening, the island comes to life and people fill the small streets around the bars, cafés, tavernas, and small shops.
