A riviera in Epirus

Parga is situated on the northwestern coast of Greece, against the Ionian Sea. Built amphitheatrically, embraced by a picturesque bay, where the verdant islet of Panagia is nestled, and protected by the shadow of its Venetian castle, this renowned naval town is a picturesque location that combines the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea with the mountainous grandeur of Epirus.
Its history began in antiquity, as evidenced by finds of the area. It came into the possession of the Normans, who built the first fortress in the 14th century, and subsequently of the Venetians, the French, the English, and the Ottomans. During the period of Venetian rule, it enjoyed significant privileges, experienced economic prosperity, and served as a bridge between Ottoman-ruled Greece and Venice.
The old town boasts distinctive architecture with cobbled streets, picturesque arches, and neighbourhoods filled with flowers, featuring well-maintained houses. Colourful mansions climb up to the walls of the pine-covered castle, creating a picture-perfect landscape. It is complemented by the idyllic waterfronts and the emerald waters of the Ionian Sea.
