The “intoxicating” city

Naousa is nestled in the heart of Macedonia, built at the foot of Mount Vermio, amidst lush mountainous scenery, bisected by the Arapitsa river
The city balances between vineyards, flowing streams, its industrial past as a textile hub, and the myriad of graffiti adorning its buildings. Quaint corners with old mansions and traditional Macedonian houses complete the setting of a town that artfully blends present and past.
Naousa is renowned for its traditional carnival, featuring the "Janissaries and Boules” custom, rooted in antiquity, depicting nature’s rebirth and dispelling evil. Participants don traditional costumes and masks, called “Prosopoi”, and parade the city accompanied by music from traditional instruments, the zournas and the daouli. Teasing banter flows freely, creating a unique atmosphere as the city pulsates with the carnival’s rhythm of music and dance.
Naousa is equally famed for its exceptional red wines, foremost among them the Xinomavro varietal.
Lush forests surround the city, and two ski resorts complete the setting of a truly intoxicating destination.
