Both mountain and sea

In the middle of Greece, between the Pagasetic Gulf and the “magical mountain” of Pelion, lies a privileged city, one of the most beautiful in Greece. A significant port throughout history, Volos is inextricably linked to the Argonautic Expedition of Greek mythology. 
It stands at the crossroads of four ancient cities and manages to win over visitors with its history, architectural heritage and the vibrant atmosphere of a modern city that knows how to enjoy life.
Outward-looking, with excellent urban planning, cycling paths, parks and a wonderful promenade by the sea, Volos impresses visitors with its stately mansions, public buildings, historic churches, museums, industrial buildings, old picturesque neighbourhoods, as well as its modern squares with the famous tsipouro tavernas serving delicious seafood dishes. 
The city is ideal for visiting and an excellent base for excursions to the dense forests and traditional villages of Mount Pelion, as well as to the wonderful beaches of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.

The nearest airport is the Nea Anchialos National Airport, which serves domestic and limited international passenger flights, located very close to Anchialos. Alternatively, for more flight options, travelers can use Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (~320 km, ~3.5–4 hours by car) or Thessaloniki International Airport “Macedonia” (~220 km, ~2.5–3 hours by car).
