The mountain of mythical centaurs and herbs

Mount Pelion rises east of Volos, between the Aegean Sea and the Pagasetic Gulf. Nestled on the slopes of the mountain are 24 picturesque villages, immersed in plane, chestnut and fir trees. From these villages, roads lead to enchanting beaches, perfectly blending mountain and sea.
According to ancient Greek mythology, the wise centaur Chiron, tutor to Asclepius and Achilles, resided on Mount Pelion, possessing knowledge of astrology, divination, and the secrets of nature and herbs. The mountain remains renowned for its herbs, with over 1,000 different species thriving on its slopes. 
Stone-built villages with grand mansions, delightful squares shaded by ancient plane trees, uphill cobbled paths, and fountains gushing with cool water, create a fairytale setting amidst lush vegetation. Each village possesses its own unique charm. From the better known, such as Makrinitsa, Portaria, and Tsagarada, to the more secluded ones, all captivate visitors with their stone-carved houses, flower-filled courtyards, and breathtaking views. Waterfalls, trails, and dense forests near beaches with crystal-clear waters weave a scene that will enchant you.
