A tranquil escape to the Small Cyclades

Donousa, the northernmost island in the Small Eastern Cyclades complex, emerges from the sea north of Amorgos and east of Naxos. Small and beautiful, it seems to be floating in the Aegean, with its turquoise and crystal-clear waters defining its character. Myth would have it that the island took its name from the god Dionysus, who hid Ariadne here.
Stavros, the island's capital, port, and hub of activity, welcomes visitors with simplicity. The small hamlets of Mersini, Charavgi, and Kalotaritissa are the missing puzzle pieces of a land that preserves its unaltered Cycladic character.
Donousa’s small size, at just 13.65 square kilometres, makes it ideal for hiking along fragrant paths filled with thyme and sage, leading to secluded coves and exquisite beaches.
The island's relief forms natural coves with crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and relaxing, while delicious treats await you at the tavernas. Donousa does not promise excitement or glamour, but it does offer serenity, authenticity, and unparalleled beauty.
