Hiking to the Waterfalls of the Nymphs

The place where the "fairies" bathed

In the northern part of Corfu, near the traditional village of Nymphes, one of the island's most impressive and least crowded natural landscapes is revealed: the waterfalls of Nymphes, formed amid dense vegetation and creating a natural oasis of coolness and tranquillity.
The main waterfall, with a height of around 10 m, plunges into a natural pool, while smaller waterfalls and streams also form in the wider area, depending on the season and water levels. The landscape is defined by lush, almost tropical vegetation, with plane trees, ivy and ferns, which create shade and a cool microclimate.
According to mythology and local tradition, the area is associated with the water nymphs, from whom it takes its name. Here, the ancients imagined the Nymphs bathing in the cool waters. The enchanting beauty of the landscape will make you believe in their presence.
The village of Nymphes lies on the green slopes of Mount Pantokrator and resembles a mainland mountain landscape more than an island setting. It is built at an altitude of around 200 m, among cypresses, plane trees, oaks and abundant running waters. According to tradition, these features earned it the name "fairy village" as early as antiquity. Stop at the central square for a coffee or a meal, before or after your visit to the famous waterfalls.
From the village of Nymphes, you can easily reach the waterfalls. Follow the dirt road for about 1.5 km, which will lead you to a main parking point. From there, a short and easy path leads to the waterfalls. The route involves a gentle walk suitable for families with children. Through close contact with nature, discover a more authentic and peaceful side of Corfu.
