The Living Poetry of Nature in Pella

The wider area surrounding the Kaimaktsalan ski centre hides natural wonders unknown to the general public. Black Forest, Ramno Bor Gorge, the Agra-Vrytta-Nisi wetland, and Lake Vegoritida offer captivating experiences for every visitor.
Black Forest and Ramno Bor Gorge
On the eastern slopes of Mount Voras lies the renowned Black Forest, a place exceptionally rich in flora and fauna. It is an ideal destination for hiking or mountain biking amidst fir and beech trees. Near Loutraki of Aridaia, you will discover the enchanting Ramno Bor (Isio Pefko) gorge, with the Thermopotamos river running through it. This location offers opportunities for rafting, canyoning, and exploring a rare speleological park with 15 caves and small waterfalls, creating an idyllic landscape.
The Agra-Vrytta-Nisi Wetland
Just 6 kilometres from Edessa lies a protected wetland, centred around Lake Agra. An organised boat tour allows visitors to observe the rich avifauna and the dense aquatic vegetation, which provides ideal conditions for birds to nest.
Magnificent Lake Vegoritida
On the borders of the prefecture of Florina lies Lake Vegoritida, the second-largest lake in Greece and the deepest in Greece. It serves as a sanctuary for 160 bird species and offers a plethora of activities, including rowing, sailing, kite surfing, and swimming. A tour around the lake includes visits to the picturesque villages of Arnissa, Perea, and Agios Panteleimonas, renowned for their hospitality and exquisite local cuisine.
A tour of Mountainous Pella is an experience of unparalleled beauty, that combines a mountain adventure with the serenity of aquatic ecosystems, offering travellers the chance to discover some of the most precious treasures of the Greek land.
